Metavari is the moniker of American composer and electronic musician, Nathaniel David Utesch. Metavari's dark, cinematic records make extensive use of nostalgic electronics and sampling; a collage of synth-laden melodies, menacing instrumentation and foley sounds.

The project was conceived as a full band (2008-2012), but transitioned to electronic music at the release of Moonless (2015) with Nathaniel at the helm. Metavari is signed to Mind Over Matter Records (distributed by Deathwish, Inc. in the US and Europe); and One Way Static Records (distributed by Light in the Attic worldwide). Full discography below. An evolving cast of contributing members weave in and out of participation and live performances as life allows, including: Ty Brinneman (bass guitar), Andrew McComas (drums, electric guitar), Kyle Steury (guitar, synths), and most recently Colin Boyd (percussion).

Since 2008, Metavari has toured widely in the US; sharing the stage with notable acts such as This Will Destroy You, Maserati, Tortoise, Digitalism, El Ten Eleven, Troller (feat. Adam Jones of S U R V I V E), Alex Cameron, Mexican Institute Of Sound, Titus Andronicus, and Small Black.
